Kouga Cabins

The evening ends around a fire with a glass of red wine and a backdrop of Kouga’s distinctive Baviaanskloof Mountain Range - this was the brief from the client. Due to limited vehicular access to these remote sites the construction method needed to be considered.

A grounded structure of gabion cages filled from rocks sourced on site meant that labour could be done by hand. A timber structure lightly intersecting the walls created an almost floating presence.
